Vinyasa Yoga

We offer three types of warm vinyasa yoga classes here each week: Vinyasa Flow, Led Ashtanga Yoga, and Jivamukti Yoga ® Spiritual Warrior. Scroll down to read about each different offering and to see the instructor who will be teaching.

Vinyasa Flow

Di Salvador.

Vinyasa flow is a class that contains many different postures strung together. The sequence is different every time, making it challenging, exciting, and dynamic. Each posture is linked to the practitioner’s breath. Certain parts of the body may be emphasized: for example, one day the focus may be more on hips, while the next day the focus may be more on arm strength. One day may have lots of inversions and balancing, while another day may have lots of twists and floor work. You will be sure to walk away feeling rejuvenated, open, and energized. Beginners will be comfortable in this environment, as each posture can be easily modified or substituted. The room is warm but not hot.

Di Salvador teaches this class. She is a highly respected and sought out teacher in New York. She is known for uniquely integrating traditional Chinese medicine into her challenging and fun classes.

Vinyasa flow is offered on Mondays at 7:30 AM and Wednesdays at 3:30 pm.

Note: On federal holidays, Di teaches a special 75-minute warm class at noon called “yinyasa,” which is 45 minutes of a slow vinyasa flow with 30 juicy minutes of yin at the end.

Led Ashtanga Yoga

Adil Rida.

Ashtanga yoga is the foundation of modern vinyasa yoga practice. It is based on an ancient set sequence, so every class contains the same postures. The class is rigorous and disciplined but still accessible for people with no prior ashtanga experience. The room is warm, but because there is so much movement, be prepared to sweat just as much as you would in one of our Bikram classes.

Adil Rida teaches this, who studied Ashtanga yoga in Mysore, India with the masters. He is a wonderful instructor for beginners and advanced yogis alike.

Led ashtanga yoga is offered every Wednesday at 7:30 AM.

Jivamukti Yoga® Spiritual Warrior

Claudia Debs (right).

A full practice. In one hour.

Jivamukti Yoga® Spiritual Warrior classes are designed for students who want a complete ashtanga-inspired vinyasa practice in one hour. The class is fast paced and invigorating. It is certainly a “get-in-shape” class.

The structure is a fixed-set sequence instructed in a vinyasa style. It is a fully balanced class that includes asana warm-up, chanting, setting of intention, surya namaskar (sun salutation), standing poses, backbends, forward bends, twists, inversions, meditation, and relaxation. The teacher focuses on keeping the pace moving, with verbal instruction as well as plenty of hands-on assists for which the Jivamukti Method has been widely recognized. Since the asana sequence is always the same, a student will pick it up quite quickly after only a couple of classes. Due to the rigor, pacing, and physical demand of this practice, the room will be warm.

Claudia Debs teaches this class. She is an advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga® teacher with over 800 hours of training in this style of yoga. If you are new to this yoga, you can rest assured that you will build a solid foundation.

We were the first yoga studio on all of Long Island that was authorized to offer this class. Find it on our schedule every Friday at 3 PM.
